Types of gift

A gift to charity is free from Inheritance Tax, and if you leave more than 10% of your entire estate to charity, you will reduce the total amount of Inheritance Tax you pay. There are several types of gift that you can leave in your Will:

• Residuary

You can leave us a percentage of your estate after any specified gifts are made to family and friends. This is a popular choice for gifts to charity, as you can ensure that your loved ones are looked after first and foremost.

• Pecuniary

You can leave a specific amount of money to us but do bear in mind that, thanks to inflation, the value of the gift will reduce over time.

• Specific

You can also leave a specified item to us, such as a possession, land, buildings, or shares, which we can use to raise funds for the charity.

A final few words

• You can use our free Will writing service whether or not you choose to leave us a gift.

• You remain in charge: what you do is entirely your choice.

• We have no expectations: even the smallest gift can make a big difference.

• What you choose to do is private to you, but if you can tell us about a gift, please do, as it helps us to plan and we can thank you properly.
